Borneo Coal Markets acts as an international efficient broker for environmental and energy commodity markets and also has direct connection to Indonesian Private Coal Mining Trading Companies (Suppliers).
We assist participants in hedging against price exposure and minimizing the risks of volatility through the execution of trades either in the over-the-counter marketplace or directly on commodity exchanges.
1. ELECTRICITY RESOURCE
Coal is appointed as the primary supply of electricity in comparison to other electricity resources available. As much of the world lacks access to modern, clean energy, coal is still essential to alleviating worldwide energy poverty.
Coal-fired plants produce electricity by burning coal in a boiler to produce steam. The steam produced, under tremendous pressure, flows into a turbine, which spins a generator to create electricity. The steam is then cooled, condensed back into water and returned to the boiler to start the process over.
2. METAL PRODUCTION
The basic material to make steel is coke and metallurgical coal which is generally mine in Indonesia.
Metallurgical (coking) coal is a key ingredient in steelmaking production- a non-ferrous metal known for its lightweight properties and widely used in cars, trains, and airplanes to reduce the weight of these vehicles and their energy consumption.
Coal converted to coke is used to produce around 70% of the world’s steel. Coal is also widely used in the production of other metals including aluminium and copper.
3. CEMENT PRODUCTION
Cement is critical to the construction industry. To produce cement, energy is required. Coal is an important source of the energy needed. A high-temperature kiln, often fuelled by coal, heats the raw materials of calcium carbonate (generally in the form of limestone), silica, iron oxide and alumina to a partial melt at 1450°C, transforming them chemically and physically into a substance known as clinker. This grey pebble-like material comprises special compounds that give cement its binding properties. Clinker is mixed with gypsum and ground to a fine powder to make cement.
Coal combustion products (CCPs), such as Fly Ash also play an important role in cement manufacture and in the construction industry generally.
4. FUEL AND GAS PRODUCTION
Coal-derived fuels, as well as coal-based electricity, play a significant role in responding to the growing energy needs of the transport sector. Not only is coal an important raw material and source of primary energy for the manufacturing of materials used to build transport infrastructure, coal-based electricity has a role to play in supporting the electrification of the transport sector.
Liquid fuels from coal can provide a viable alternative to conventional oil products and can be used in the existing supply infrastructure. It is liquefied to make synthetic fuels similar to petroleum or diesel.
5. CHEMICAL PRODUCTION
In modern gasifiers, coal is typically exposed to steam and carefully controlled amounts of air or oxygen under high temperatures and pressures. Under these conditions, molecules in coal break apart, initiating chemical reactions that typically produce synthesis gas (syngas), hydrogen, carbon monoxide and other gaseous compounds.
The hydrogen can then be captured and stored. 20% of hydrogen production comes from coal-to-gas processes.
6. INDUSTRIAL NEED
Several chemical products can be produced from the by-products of coal in the coal-to-chemicals (CTC) industry. Refined coal tar is used in the manufacture of chemicals, such as creosote oil, naphthalene, phenol, and benzene. Ammonia gas recovered from coke ovens is used to manufacture ammonia salts, nitric acid and agricultural fertilisers. Thousands of different products have coal or coal by-products as components: soap, aspirins, solvents, dyes, plastics and fibres, such as rayon and nylon.
Our coal products are mainly coming from Indonesia and we offer four main calorific values. We can provide you until 300.000 Metric Tonne FOB Monthly.
And Indonesian coal is also famous for Steam Coal.
1. Lignite
Lignite is defined as non-agglomerating coal with a gross calorific value on moist ash free basis <4165 kcal/kg.
GCV 3400 / 3600
2. Sub-bituminous
Coal is hard and brittle and black and shiny, moisture content is 20 – 40%, calorific value 4,000 kcal/kg to 5,800 kcal/kg
GCV 4.200 (Steam Coal)
3. Bituminous
Coal is softer and shiny, moisture content is 8 -20% calorific value is 5,800 to 7,800 kcal/kg, crucible swelling number from 2 – 9+ possible for coking coals, volatile matter from 16% - 40%.
Coal can be categorized into different groups depending on the application. Thermal coal and coking coal are two such types of coal. The key difference between coking coal and thermal coal is that coking coal is mainly used to produce high quality coke, whereas thermal coke is important in producing electricity.
GCV 5.600 / 6.100 (Steam/Coking Coal)
GCV 7.200 / 7.500 (Coking Coal)
4 Anthracite
Coal is very shiny, repels moisture, calorific value 7,800 – 8,000 kcal/kg, no coking properties.
GCV 7.800 / 8.100 (Anthracite)
Indonesian Coal is soft in texture, black & lightweight and is known for its purity, generally low in ash and sulphur, Various sizes & GAR (Gross As Received) and high thermal efficiency. The run-of-mine coal does not generally require preparation and simple crushing and screening suffices to produce a marketable product.
Steam coal is one of the major sources of power and heat generation, also the common fuel for electricity generation in many industries to deliver sufficient energy that is needed by the industrial to achieve their daily production target, without a sufficient amount of this steam coal, then it will be difficult to run production on a normal level as needed.
Indonesian steam coal is one of the most produced coal and expanded as electrical resources, function steam machines and other industrial needs. Indonesian metallurgical coal is widely used in steel industry. The heat produced by this coal is totally burning. Moreover, the level of heat can even melt iron ore and produce steel.
Indonesian steam coal is primarily produced in Indonesia and turned out to be one of the greatest country who produced steam coal around the world.
